One of our most common questions that we get here at Strayhorn is about our custom tags. Which color shows the laser engraving the best? While our laser engraving shows up the same darkness on all tag colors, some colors do show the numbers much better than others. This is mostly due to how the laser engraving mark contrasts with the tag color – which can change when looking at a tag in the sunlight or when it has a layer of dirt on it!
It’s hard to beat a yellow tag for contrast, especially with laser engraving. It shows up exceptionally well, even with a layer of dirt over the tag. The letters and numbering are crisp and clear, and we’ve seen over the years that yellow is unbeatable for holding up over time.
While not as brilliant as yellow, our light pink, green, and white tags all have very good visibility. We’ve had very good feedback about all of these holding up over time, and in our own tests these show up excellently both as soon as applied, and months and years down the road.
While we don’t offer all these colors at the moment, red, purple, and blue are notorious for being hard to see. The marking is permanent and the tags are still very readable, the contrast is just slightly lower because of the pigment in the tag.
No matter what color of tags you choose, the laser marking that we use is permanent. We’ve tested all of our colors to ensure that they are readable, so you shouldn’t have any issues regardless of which tag color you choose!
